Terra Bella Montreal is proud to be helping students eat better, by providing fresh produce on a weekly basis to SNAC! The Student Nutrition Accessibility Club (SNAC) at McGill University is tackling food insecurity and promoting healthy eating habits on campus. SNAC believes that all students should have access to affordable, nutritious food, and they're working hard to make that a reality.

Here's how SNAC is making a difference:

  • Fighting food insecurity: SNAC recognizes that many students struggle to afford groceries and healthy food. They operate a food bank stocked with donated items and offer a voucher program that provides financial assistance for groceries.

  • Promoting sustainable food practices: SNAC is committed to environmental sustainability and educates students about how their food choices impact the planet. They organize workshops and events focused on sustainable agriculture, reducing food waste, and plant-based eating.

  • Creating Community: SNAC fosters a welcoming and inclusive space for students passionate about food justice and sustainability. They host cooking workshops, documentary screenings, and social events that build community and raise awareness about food-related issues.

  • Advocating for Change: SNAC collaborates with other student groups and organizations to advocate for policies that improve food security and sustainability on campus.

SNAC in Action:

  • Their food bank, located in the SSMU building, provides non-perishable food items, hygiene products, and school supplies to students in need.

  • They host regular "Food and Film" events, screening documentaries about food systems and sustainability followed by discussions.

  • They partner with Santropol Roulant, a local community organization, to offer workshops on urban agriculture and food preservation.

SNAC is making a positive impact on the lives of students by addressing food insecurity, promoting healthy and sustainable eating, and fostering a sense of community. Their work is a testament to the power of student activism and the importance of ensuring that all students have access to the nourishment they need to thrive
